The Power of Consistency

One of the best things you can do for your career or your company is to present a solid, consistent version of yourself to the public. Using your logo is a great start, but branding yourself can go much further to include the pictures you pick, the colors you use, and the fonts you utilize. As a case study, let’s look at Terre Foods Cooperative Market.

1. Creating a logo

Terre Foods is a cooperative market currently recruiting members and fundraising. They’re new in their area (Terre Haute, Indiana) and need to make people aware of what they are and what they hope to do. First off, we created them a logo that fits their mission. It’s simple, clean and relevant, transforming the railroad tracks of this industrial crossroads town to a garden where new life can flourish.

We designed simple business cards for the Terre Foods steering committee, membership cards for new members, and provided the logo files to Terre Foods for their own use. They made sure to put it on their web site and their letterhead as well as soon large banners for their display tables at the farmers’ markets.

3. Keeping the look going

Next up, Terre Foods needed accompanying materials like an informational brochure about member-ownership and a promotional poster encouraging people to join. We made sure to include the logo on the pieces, use the same color family, and coordinate the imagery and typefaces.

4. Merchandise

The logo we created is such a nice stand-alone image that it transfers quite well to merchandising applications, such as tote bags, t-shirts and window clings.

5. Extending the brand

Once we’d established the look, we were able to have some fun with it! From t-shirt designs for the first annual Blueberry Festival to award-winner certificates for a Salsa Contest, everything we design for Terre Foods pulls fonts, colors and images together to create something fresh without losing our consistency.
