Jimmy Rinehart is a guitarist & music instructor in a crowded music town.

He needed a home on the web for his various musical projects, with a consistent look for his promotional pieces. Jimmy needed a professional website, an easy-to-update show calendar, and a showcase for his work.

He also needed to be sure everything integrated well with his other online presences, like his Instagram and his Bandcamp.

An identity based on the music

First we worked with Jimmy to create an awesome identity based on his loves and influences: the colors of classic Fender and Epiphone guitars, the feel and typography of old Chet Atkins vinyl records, and a clean, polished style that feels both vintage and fresh.

The final identity is instantly usable in a wide variety of places, from web to print.

A site for a working musician

Then we helped Jimmy organize his content and show off his work on a new website at The site instantly gives fans, colleagues, and venues a feel for who he is. Fitting both his aesthetic and his needs as a working musician, Jimmy’s website helps him establish his professional credentials and get gigs.

In particular, we built Jimmy a user-friendly event calendar that he can keep up to date with show info. We made sure it would be easy for him to update and add to. And fans can see at a glance where Jimmy will be playing next.

We also utilized a lot of embedded content to create a nice hub for Jimmy’s work. By incorporating YouTube, Vimeo, and Bandcamp content, we were able to centralize and showcase samples of his talent without needing to host large files on his site. Plenty of links to Spotify, Instagram, YouTube, and Apple Music ensure that listeners can find his music anywhere they like to listen.

Finally, we provided Jimmy with some matching web graphics for his Bandcamp header and YouTube channel graphics.

Jimmy’s website looks great on all devices, so booking agents on office desktops and fans on the way to a show are equally happy.

Business cards

Jimmy meets venue owners, fans, and other musicians all the time. Each new person is an opportunity to make a lasting connection and be remembered later. In the past, connecting with people in lasting ways was hard. Everyone found themselves scrambling for a pen and paper, or hoping the other person would just remember their name. We had a real opportunity to remove some of the barriers here, giving Jimmy both the tools and the confidence to strike up more conversations.

We suggested business cards to Jimmy because we wanted him to have something tangible to give to people “in real life” that would direct them to his website. Even basic business cards would have been useful, but we built Jimmy cards that would set him apart from the rest. The cards match his visual identity and give the user a feel for who Jimmy is. Printed on crisp, matte cardstock, they make a great impression. And we gave him room to write in a phone number or email address if appropriate. Now Jimmy can represent himself well, and he’s also made it easy for his new connections to learn more and get in touch.

The business cards are memorable and super-usable, so Jimmy can be proud every time he hands one out. They also feature a nice space for Jimmy to write in an email address or phone number if the circumstance calls for it.
